The ORPP marked World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 With simultaneous tree planting drives across six ecologically significant sites, as the world marked World Environment Day. The ORPP was in the field. Staff from six regional offices simultaneously planted trees in their own counties in one of the institution’s most visible public engagements of the month.
The 5th June 2026 exercise spanned Machakos (Masinga Dam), Bungoma Office (Kakamega Forest), Nairobi Metropolis (Nderi Primary School), Garissa (County High School), Uasin Gishu (Tubuiywet Primary School), and Laikipia County (Kiwanja Senior School), each site chosen for its ecological significance.
Kenya Forest Service supported the exercise by supplying eco-appropriate seedlings, a mix of indigenous and fruit trees selected for each site. At the same time, government agencies and community-based conservationists joined the mission on the ground across the six counties.
At the school sites, ORPP staff held sessions with learners after the planting/growing, sensitizing them on the Office’s mandate and their civic responsibility both in governance and in caring for the environment they will inherit.
