ORPP breaths life to  PWDs training manual, trains party leagues

Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu addresses political parties’ PWDs  Leagues representatives

The ORPP has initiated the implementation of its newly launched Political Education Manual for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with a training session for the Chairpersons of political parties’ Disability Leagues, held on October 28th -29th, 2024.

Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, CBS during the forum supported by  Kenya – Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung (HSF), urged political parties to prioritize PWD programming within their highest decision-making bodies, such as the National Governing Councils (NEC). She highlighted several obstacles to the inclusion of PWDs, including socio-cultural and political challenges, societal attitudes, lack of support, stereotypes, discrimination, educational hurdles, financial limitations, and technological disparities. The Manual and the associated training sessions aim to tackle these issues.

This training is part of ORPP’s commitment to implementing capacity-building initiatives that foster inclusion through party registration processes, the allocation of the Political Parties Fund, and adherence to governance standards. The ORPP plans to extend similar training opportunities to other political party structures, including their governing bodies.
