ORPP Machakos team joins stakeholders to mark the International Day of Peace, Tseikuru, Kitui County.

ORPP, Machakos-based team, yesterday, joined stakeholders to commemorate Peace Day celebrations under the global theme-“ACT Now for a Peaceful World, in Tseikuru, Kitui County

The team represented ORPP in the Peace walk and contributions to sporting activities promoting peace in the region, long hit by border-related and other communal conflicts.

The occasion was organised by Kitui County in collaboration with Kitui Women for Peace and Security (KWPS). It featured a peace walk through Tseikuru Market and a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at Tseikuru Primary School, signifying the community’s solidarity and environmental stewardship.

“Peace is not merely the absence of violence, but the presence of justice, equity, and opportunity. Lets all be reminded of the critical role women play in peace and security, as they often are the first to detect tensions and take the lead to drive reconciliation”, noted ORPP, Machakos Coordinator, Hope Nandwa while encouraging the opportunities and practicability of promoting peace by us all.

Ms. Nandwa also highlighted the role of political parties in shaping a peaceful democratic culture, calling for tolerance, respect for diversity, and inclusive political processes. She further affirmed ORPP’s commitment to supporting such initiatives and working collaboratively with all actors to Kenya’s aspiration to democratic and peaceful future.

Participating in the event were representatives of the national and county government, civil society, community-based leaders and peace promoters, among other players.
