The ORPP is at the final phase of the ORPP draft document of its 2025- 2028 Strategic Plan, 28th to 30th April,2025. The Plan is focused on realizing impactful goals based on identified strategic issues. It seeks to improve registration, regulation of political parties and supporting of political parties in elections. Other key focus areas are on digital transformation and data management, partnerships and stakeholders’ engagement and institutional development and good governance practices.
“The new Strategic Plan will be more focused on strategic issues in line with the ORPP mandate. The Plan should have ‘SMART’ objectives and clearly structured monitoring and evaluation mechanisms based on applicable baselines, numerical targets and deadlines”, advised Assistant Registrar, Ali Abdullahi, also an expert in strategic planning.

The Plan follows a successful implementation of the ORPP 2020/2025 Strategic Plan that registered key successes, took stock of challenges and lessons learnt in the previous period. Key successes registered in the past period included by on-boarding of membership services on e-Citizen and on digital platforms; spearheading amendments to Political Parties Act, development of Political Parties (Membership). “I call on staff in the process of development to give their perspectives to enrich the document based on their experiences in implementing the Plan and projections for the current period. The Plan shall later be subjected to external stakeholders for views and validation. Registrar addresses a section of staff during the drafting of the strategic plan
The session was coordinated by Planning department with technical expert guidance from the State Department of Economic Planning in the National Treasury.
