Registrar joins women party luminaries for a  Youth-centered talk

Registrar Ann Nderitu, CBS, was part of the delegates at the African Socialist Youth Committee Consultative Forum, which centered on the theme “Democracy Under Threats and Youth Activism for Secure and Free Societies.” The forum was held on 11th October, 2024 in Nairobi.

In her keynote address, the Registrar highlighted the critical role of youth voices in democratic processes and the necessity of addressing their concerns that contribute to political disengagement. “I urge young individuals to engage actively in political processes and youth organizations to improve their representation in decision-making,” Dr. Nderitu stated.

The forum concentrated on strategies to elevate youth perspectives in political discourse and initiatives aimed at increasing youth voter participation.

Among the speakers were representatives from various political parties and governance agencies, including Hon. Prof. Julia Ojiambo, Party Leader of the Labour Party of Kenya; Victor Mutiso, Head of Legal Affairs at the National Youth Council; and Mr. Frankline Mukwanja, Executive Director of the Centre for Multiparty Democracy.

Delegates from Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Uganda, Tunisia, and Morocco also participated in the forum alongside their Kenyan counterparts.
