Registrar engages human rights advocates at the 20th CMD anniversary

The Registrar of Political Parties,Ann Nderitu, CBS, was part of the distinguished guests at the 20th Anniversary celebrations of the Centre for Multiparty Democracy. The event , held on 10th December 2024 in Nairobi, made reflections on the status of observance of human rights in the country which has a nexus with the good governance and democratic growth.

Key guests that included seasoned political figures and human rights defenders, also interrogated the achievements and pitfalls of the nation’s democratic journey while addressing pressing national issues.

“I am pleased to participate in the progress we have made as a country, which ORPP is proud to have supported. I also appreciate the vital contributions of Special Interest Groups, including youth, women, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), in advancing democracy through their leadership and governance roles”, Ann Nderitu said.

The Registrar noting the collective essence of all stakeholders including Centre for Multiparty Democracy in promoting accurate information and encouraging dialogue among citizens through both offline and online channels.

She emphasized the importance of political party leaders being accessible to Special Interest Groups and urged them to amplify these groups’ voices in the ongoing electoral legal reforms in a timely manner, ahead of the 2027 general election.
