On December 10th/11th, ORPP continued its efforts to respond to the Youth to the greatest extent possible.
To this endeavour, ORPP supported and participated in the Annual Nyeri Youth Summit, held on 10th to 11th December 2025, at Kamukunji Grounds, Nyeri Town.
The ORPP participated by exhibiting its services and engaging in panel discussions at the Summit, running on the theme “Ignite Your Potential: Youth Shaping Nyeri’s Tomorrow.”
The forum brought together youth leaders, innovators, and change-makers from the region and beyond, to deliberate on issues around leadership, governance, entrepreneurship, civic participation and youth empowerment.
Discussions in plenary and panels (Vikaos) were led by various speakers, including Prof. P.L.O. Lumumba and the Nyeri County Governor, H.E. Mutahi Kahiga.
In his address, Prof. Lumumba underscored the importance of personal transformation as a prerequisite for societal change, noting that-“To change the world, you must be mad, but methodically mad”. He further urged the youth in Kenya to move beyond lamentation and instead adapt, innovate, and remain relevant both regionally and globally.
The Governor called for the harnessing of youth potential.
“We must transform the energy of the youth into engines of prosperity, innovation, and unity”, said the Governor.
The ORPP Central Region Coordinator, Judy Gathoni, while engaging in a panel discussion dubbed “The People’s Kikao” panel, educated on ORPP progressive interventions such as implementing programmes for youth participation in political parties leadership and governance. She also joined in the call to the youth to embrace social inclusion and justice, patriotism and volunteerism and shun vices such as radicalization and violent extremism.
“Intergenerational knowledge transfer and meaningful youth engagement in political processes is key. It is the ORPP’s urge for the youth to seek party leadership, which is enabled by elaborate party structures such as youth leagues available in fully registered parties”, Gathoni said. She is based in ORPP Nyeri office and coordinates ORPP services in Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga counties.
The ORPPKenya participation in the forum is part of its commitment to grassroots outreach engagements, reaching out to targeted Special Interest Groups.
