ORPP leadership pitches call for redress to acute budget deficits before House Committee

On March 10, 2026, ORPP submitted its additional budget requirements to cater for critical underfunded programmes in FY 2025/2026 for consideration by the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC), at Bunge Towers, Nairobi. The session was part of Governance, Justice, Law and Order (GJLO) entities’ submissions to JLAC under Supplementary Estimates No. 1 of FY 2025/2026.

Leading the team, Assistant Registrar CPA Florence Birya detailed budget deficits to JLAC on critical programmes such as legal reforms, processing of parties’ registration and compliance processes, funding of parties, upgrade of IPPMS, operational-related items, among others.

“The ORPP appreciates regular opportunity to table Office requests and the Committee’s positive consideration to deliver on statutory mandate and responsive services to the citizens “, CPA Birya appealed.

Chairperson JLAC Hon. Murugara Gitonga applauded the ORPP for its detailed crystallization of budget issues while acknowledging the funding deficits to be considered by his Committee.

The ORPP team consisted of Assistant Registrar, CS Agatha Wahome, Directors of Finance and Compliance, Joshua Kimulu, D.N Kinuthia, and a host of senior officers.

In the sitting, ORPP also provided a status report on its budget absorption in the current FY, appraisal of pending bills, analysis of adverse effect on the Office underfunded to its statutory mandate, among other briefings.
