ORPP joins in commemoration of 16 days of GBV in Gatundu South

On 25th November 2025, the Metropolitan Regional Office based at HQ participated in the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in Kiambu County. The event was held in Gatundu South Subcounty, beginning with a procession through Gatundu, followed by the official launch ceremony.

During the event, the Coordinator, Lucy Kemunto, had an opportunity to speak; she delivered remarks on the importance of safe political spaces for all genders. She underscored that political spaces must remain safe, inclusive, and respectful. She also highlighted how violence against women in politics, whether physical, emotional, online harassment, intimidation, or exclusion, continues to discourage many women from participating in leadership. This ultimately undermines representation, equality, and the democratic gains we have made as a country.

She finally reaffirmed ORPP’s commitment to supporting political parties to uphold gender equality and nondiscrimination.
