On Monday, 15th December 2025, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) convened an engaging X Space discussion hosted on @SiasaPlace from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM (EAT) to interrogate a critical question facing Kenya’s democracy: are political parties affordable for young Kenyans? The forum brought together politically conscious youth and stakeholders to examine the financial and structural costs of political participation and their implications for youth inclusion in party politics.
Speaking as a panelist, the Registrar of Political Parties, Mr. J.C. Lorionokou, underscored the importance of political parties as vehicles for civic education, leadership development, and democratic representation, while acknowledging the economic barriers that often deter young people from active participation. The discussion provided a platform for candid dialogue, policy reflection, and renewed commitment to fostering a more inclusive and accessible political party system for Kenya’s youth.
