ORPP spreads Democracy awareness to the Grassroots

In commemoration of the International Day of Democracy, the Office, on 18th September 2026, engaged members of the public in Kiambu town, Buspark, Kiambu County, through an interactive public sensitization exercise aimed at enhancing awareness of political rights and promoting informed participation in Kenya’s democratic processes.

During the exercise, members of the public were sensitized on their rights and responsibilities within political parties, the importance of making free and informed political choices, and were supported to check and verify their political party membership status.

Through conversations, questions and one-on-one engagements, ORPP said it continues to bring its services closer to the people, empowering citizens with the information they need to meaningfully participate in the country’s democratic processes.

The Office reiterated that democracy thrives when citizens are informed, engaged and empowered to participate, noting that such grassroots engagements remain central to its public education and civic outreach mandate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

ORPP staff help a member of the public check his political party membership status during a commemoration awareness drive held in Kiambu town. It was organised by Nairobi Metropolis Coordinator, Lucy Kemunto.
