ORPP, MCK sensitize scribes in Baringo

Grassroots-based media practitioners based in Baringo appreciate ORPP for a capacity-building forum the Office conducted Kenya School of Government, Baringo Campus, on 7th May 2026.

The forum was held with support of facilitators from the Me­dia Council of Kenya (MCK). It focused on broadening the scribes’ insights on a raft of political parties’ regulation processes and ethos in journalistic practices.

The forum brought together a diverse group of journalists drawn from representatives of national media stations (regional based), Kenya News Agency – KNA ,local/ community media houses, as well as a segment of the citizens/freelance journalists practicing on radio, print and varied digital media.

The ORPP officers led discussions on topical areas relating to understanding of ORPP brand, salient legal issues in political reporting, registration & compliance processes, ORPP media engagement framework, publicly available physical and electronic information resources, journalistic ethos as well as call for collaboration between media and institutional duty bearers.

The occasion, coordinated by ORPP Corporate Communication Department, was graced by Kenya School of Government, Baringo Campus Director Wesley Kiprop, PhD, who graced the closing session.

The engagement was part of ORPP’s resolve to proactively enhance media relations through availing accurate and verified information and providing expert guidance on political parties regulation in Kenya by the ORPP leadership or designated from time to time.

Facilitators and participants alike acknowledged the power and societal responsibility, resolving for continuous learning and partnership, essential for progressive political reporting even as the country nears the 2027 main polls.
