Kitui office represented the Registrar at Launch of Student Leadership and Governance Workshop at Machakos University. The objective was to enlighten student leaders on governance structures, promote democratic principles, encourage civic engagement, and explore ORPP’s role in supporting youth political participation.
Hope Nandwa, the Region’s Coordinator while speaking in the forum, urged student leaders to promote integrity, transparency, and inclusivity and the importance of student governance as a training ground for future political leadership. On Internal Democracy, she stressed the adherence to constitutional procedures and accountability.
She provided insights on promoting internal democracy within student bodies, similar to national political parties while encouraging the students to engage in national governance by registering as voters and participating in political processes, either through voting or involvement in party structures.
She further highlighted strategies for managing leadership disputes within student organizations, with a focus on mediation and ORPP’ s role in resolving conflicts in Political parties.
The panelists comprised of among others :IEBC,IFES,NYC and ORPP. We had other stakeholders: Siasaplace,NCIC,Ministry of Education and NACADA.
