Broadening the capacity of women leaders in political parties to embrace modern-day tech was the focus of day two of ORPP, Capacity Building, where experts led practical sessions on using technology-driven strategies for their political inroads.
The women national officials in political parties in the forum were engaged in various ways of ‘Harnessing Digital Technology for Political Participation, Influence, and Online Safety Ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The captivating session demonstrated practical lessons on the use of digital platforms in political engagement, communication, voter outreach, and leadership, with a deeper ‘dive’ into the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern political processes. Participants were further guided on appropriate tools for content creation, research, stakeholder engagement, and tapped into real-time insights for decision-making.
The discussions highlighted positive use of emerging tech such as AI in reshaping political participation and creating new opportunities for leaders to connect with citizens more effectively, as well as potential threats such as cyber threats, misinformation, and Tech-facilitated Gender Based Violence (TFGBV)
The forum was part of ORPP foresight-looking efforts in designing and implementing responsive Capacity Building initiatives, alive to the needs of the time, harnessing digital technologies to improve party processes and party-citizen engagements, vital in enhancing inclusivity in party processes and larger realization of democratic governance.
