ORPP Rolls Out Nationwide Capacity-Building Programme for Political Parties

Ten ORPP-led capacity-building sessions for parties, held simultaneously in 13 regions across the country.

The sessions, doubling stakeholder feedback avenues, sought to sensitize the participants to a holistic understanding of the legal framework, parties’ compliance requirements, civic and political duties to their members, conflict resolution, and the party organs’ role in promoting inclusivity and democratic practices within their parties.

The trainings were coordinated by ORPP Capacity Building of Political Parties in conjunction with respective field offices and were held in Bungoma, Kajiado, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, Laikipia, Garissa, Kilifi, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Isiolo, Machakos, and Mombasa counties.

Stakeholders present engaged ORPP officials on current and emerging issues as they shared experiences from their respective counties and discussed strategies for strengthening party structures for a credible 2027 general election and collaborative efforts to entrench democratic governance as borne by duty bearers (state and non-state) and the citizens.

The initiative was part of ORPP’s capacity-building programmes towards inculcating good governance practices in political parties, key to sustainable democratic ideals in Kenya.
