The ORPP Machakos office, in partnership with the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), on 26th August 2026 held a sensitization forum for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) intending to vie for elective positions in Machakos County ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The forum aimed to build the aspirants’ capacity and enhance their participation in the electoral process. The participants were taken through ORPP’s mandate under the Political Parties Act, their rights and obligations as party members, alongside various online self-service platforms offered by the office. They were also given an opportunity to raise concerns on party processes, including nominations, appeal mechanisms, and access to information. Ms. Nandwa highlighted ORPP’s ongoing efforts to promote gender parity within political parties, as well as its compliance checks on the registration, administration, and management of the Political Parties Fund, in line with respective party constitutions.
The SIG aspirants called for continuous review and improvement of party nomination processes, the establishment of clear dispute resolution pathways, and sustained civic and political education at the grassroots level as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election.
