ORPP Joins Stakeholders’ Forum on Election Violence Prevention

Bungoma field office staff and stakeholders from the CSOs and FBOs after the stakeholder consultative meeting held in Bungoma

ORPP Bungoma field office on 17th and 18th September participated in a stakeholders’ consultative meeting held in Bungoma County, organized by the Shalom Center for Counseling and Development (SCCoDev), a faith-based entity.

The forum brought together stakeholders from the National and County Governments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs).

The engagement also provided an opportunity for the office to sensitize participants on the mandate and functions of the ORPP, as well as its preparedness and role in relation to the upcoming 2027 General Election, including its multi-stakeholder engagements extending to regional stakeholders in different parts of the country.

Key outcomes of the forum included the sharing of findings from an election violence research report conducted by SCCoDev in Bungoma County; identification and discussion of election violence risks highlighted in the report; an assessment of the preparedness of duty bearers to promote and ensure a peaceful and credible 2027 General Election; and the development of prevention and response mechanisms, including EWER strategies and coordination approaches to promote sustainable peace.
