Team of ORPP officials was dispersed to 7 regions covering the larger part of the country between 28th and 30th November to sensitize political parties county officials. The topics discussed were; the purpose of political parties, officials’ responsibilities and techniques, and the functioning of various party organs in the proper management of political parties’ affairs.
The sensitizations were held in 7 counties in the towns of; Kakamega (Kisumu County), Diani (Kwale county), Sagana (Murang’a county), Kitale (Transnzoia county), Meru (Isiolo/ Meru counties), Naivasha (Nakuru county) and Machakos (Machakos/Kitui counties). Before the exercise, on 24th November, teams assigned were briefed on mechanisms and expectations in undertaking the exercise with an emphasis on collating and reporting requirements upon completion of the exercise.
“ I bring to your attention the need for accurate reporting and collection of feedback for continual improvement and conceptualization of subsequent similar programming,” emphasized Anastacia Kaberere, the lead Officer in the exercise.
The team on the actual training date, gave real-time updates through the WhatsApp group established for coordination of the exercise.
“Letu ni kuwasihi ORPP kurekebisha sheria na tabia kuhakikisha viongozi wa vyama vya kisiasa katika nyanja ya kitaifa wamewajibika kwa kila namna na tendo”, said Bebayo, another participant in Diani forum in Swahili referring to some political leaders seemingly advocating for other parties different from those elected on.
