The ORPP launched its Strategic Plan 2025–2028 on 23rd July 2026 in Nairobi, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the regulation of political parties and advancing democratic governance in Kenya. The launch marked an important milestone in the Office’s efforts to enhance service delivery and align its operations with emerging national and global governance priorities.
The event hosted by the Registrar was witnessed by ORPP key stakeholders from state entities, political parties, state agencies and partners, graced by Hon. Attorney General, Hon. Dorcas Oduor, EGH as the chief guest.
The occasion also honored the presence of the Registrar of Political Parties, Emeritus Ms. Ann Nderitu, now Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), who steered the development of the Strategic Plan at the tail end of her tenure.
The Strategic Plan sets out ORPP’s roadmap for the period 2025–2028 and is focused on 6 pillars relating to Registration and Regulation of Political Parties; Institutional Governance and Capacity; Participation of Political Parties in Elections; Digital Transformation and Data Management; and Partnership and Strategic Engagement.
The Plan’s strategic intents are aligned to Kenya’s national development agenda, citizens’ aspirations, and emerging global trends in governance and public service.
Speaking during the launch, the Registrar reaffirmed the Office’s commitment to implementing the Plan as a guide for achieving measurable results, promoting innovation, and improving operational efficiency.
“The Plan is expected to strengthen ORPP’s capacity to effectively execute its constitutional and statutory mandate while enhancing transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement”.
The launch provided an opportunity for stakeholders’ reflection and plug into the outlined programmes, achievable through shared responsibility and collaboration to a vibrant, accountable, and democratic political party system.
Stakeholders present hailed ORPP leadership for the continued efforts in reforming regulation of political parties in Kenya and keenness to involve the stakeholders and partners across its process.
The launch of the Plan, which is part of ORPP’s strategic activities, sits as a central pillar in delivering and actualizing the Office’s citizen-centric services that spur democratic governance, including actualization of Constitution-granted citizens’ political rights.
