A multi-stakeholder forum held on 11th April 2025, in Nairobi to discuss actionable strategies to grow women leadership. The forum’s focus was to lay joint ground of implementing a recently developed County Assemblies (C.A), 750 strategy. The Strategy is a comprehensive action plan to seeking to enhance transitioning of women in various political parties and county leadership to higher positions including into elective positions.

Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, CBS, at the forum, encouraged women to join political parties that reflect their values and ideologies. “We all have a duty to ensure more women participate in elections not just as voters, but as candidates, so that we can increase the number of women elected to leadership positions. The hindrances that befall women including threats to personal security need to be addressed by relevant agencies”, Registrar not- ed while advocating for enhanced training and support for women in grassroot politics.

Further, the Registrar shared the ORPP ongoing initiatives to boost women’s leadership such as its advocacy for legal reforms, running capacity-building programs, political edu- cation and development and dissemination of information resources in topical issues on governance, inclusion and women leadership.

The forum also addressed key barriers faced by women in pursuing elective positions and proposed practical solutions. A number of id proposals are detailed in the CA 750 Strategy. The forum was facilitated by Echo Network Afri- ca Foundation. Part of the stakeholders included Hanns Seidel Foundation, Mzalendo Trust, County Assemblies Forum CAF, Kewopa Kenya, UN Women Democracy Trust Fund among others.
