On  1st April 2026, ORPP appeared before the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC), spotlighting the Office’s role in elections and budget support to effectively undertake election-related programmes.

“We have to collaborate as electoral-related bodies even as we together confront challenges that befall elections and better deliver services to the citizens,” said J.C. Lorionokou, highlighting ORPP legal reform proposals as amendments to the Political Parties Act, Cap 7D.

Present were Assistant Registrars CPA Florence Birya and CS Agatha Wahome, and senior officers from different departments.

The JLAC Chairperson Hon Murugara George, CBS, MP, applauded ORPP for its continued role in promoting governance and democracy, indicating consideration to the Office submissions.

A sitting like this with all agencies is important to have a common understanding of status, budget requirements, and better coordinate ahead of the 2027 general elections “, said Hon Mutuse  Mwengi OGW, JLAC Vice Chairperson.

The entities in election and governance were called to scale up information sharing to the citizens, as there are widening gaps amongst Kenyans.
