It is a standard practice for ORPP to capacity-build governing organs of registered political parties, shortly after the attainment of full registration and after a substantial change in the governing body. To set their organs on a good governance pedestal, from 16th to 18th February, the ORPP is training governing officials of five parties on the fundamentals of good governance, Legal requirements, including the Code of Conduct for Political Parties, and registration and compliance obligations. These are some of the bare minimum registered parties must comply with as legally registered democratic /governance institutions. Assistant Registrar, CPA Florence Birya, in the session, emphasized the critical legal responsibility for their respective parties’ full compliance and instating sound governance in all their processes. The ORPP Director Compliance D.N. Kinuthia urged the officials to dedicate effort and continually embrace learning to ensure the establishment of strong and compliant within their parties. The training, coordinated by the Political Parties Capacity Building department, is being facilitated by ORPP staff drawn from various functional areas. The initiative is part of ORPP’s strategic interventions for the institutionalization of political parties, which enables them to attain their role in the country’s multiparty democracy.
