The ORPP is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sophia Sitati as the Acting Registrar of Political Parties effective the 14th of July, 2025.
Ms. Sitati has been seconded from the Office of the Attorney General, State Department for Justice & Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs, where she served as Chief State Counsel. She brings to ORPP a wealth of expertise and experience as a seasoned legal practitioner having served in various portfolios in Government. She takes over the mantle from the outgoing Registrar, Ms. Ann Nderitu, CBS, who has since been appointed as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Ms. Nderitu served at ORPP from 2018 to 2025. In her tenure, she laid ORPP’s institutional foundation such as human capital development, stakeholder engagements, legal and ICT reforms, capacity building of political parties officials and targeted Special Interest Groups, positioning ORPP as a learning reference to regional and global peers and development of internal policies across functional areas among others. These initiatives have led to effective execution of the Office mandate and progressed democratic governance in Kenya.
Ms. Sitati joins a dedicated pool of staff in progressing ORPP’s milestones since establishment in 2008. The incoming was briefed by the outgoing Registrar, Ms. Nderitu on 15th July 2025 at ORPP headquarter office and introduced to a section of management and staff.
