ORPP party to stakeholders’ meet up to apprise electoral reforms and preparedness for 2027 polls

The ORPP on 15th October 2025, in Nairobi, joined stakeholders including representatives from state agencies, media and non-state actors in a roundtable discussion to review progress on electoral reforms and identify priority areas of engagement ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The  Head of Legal and Advisory Services, Wafula Wakoko, provided an update on ongoing efforts to institutionalize political parties as essential pillars for democratic engagement.

“Legal reform remains a top priority in implementing recommendations made out ORPP learnings from the last general election”, Wakoko said .

He further highlighted ORPP’s proposals towards amending the Political Parties Act Cap 7D (PPA). The target areas for review relate to party nominations, coalitions, sanctions and dispute resolution mechanisms.

Participants underscored the need for enhanced collaboration between the media, civil society, and political and electoral duty bearers to ensure sustained and inclusive coverage of the electoral reform processes.

The forum was convened by Mzalendo Trust under its Promoting Inclusive Electoral Reforms in Kenya (PIER-K) initiative.
