ORPP engages state and Civil Society Stakeholders in Mwatate

On 4th June 2026, the ORPP Mombasa field office team convened a county-level stakeholder sensitization forum in Mwatate, Taveta County, bringing together representatives from state agencies and Civil Society Organizations.

The forum aimed to enhance awareness of the Office’s governance and regulatory mandate, recognizing that collaboration between state and non-state actors is essential in advancing political education and promoting inclusive citizen participation in governance and political party processes.

Speaking at the forum, Mombasa-based Coordinator, Susan Mwaingo highlighted the Office’s mandate and the critical role political parties play within Kenya’s democratic framework.

“The Office remains committed to continuous stakeholder engagement to enhance awareness of our services and inclusion initiatives, particularly those targeting Special Interest Groups (SIGs),” noted Mwaingo.

Nairobi Metropolis Coordinator Lucy Kemunto outlined the Office’s role in the electoral process, including oversight and certification of political party membership registers during party nominations, capacity building for political party organs and SIGs, and the processing of clearances for independent candidates and applicants seeking state appointments.
