20 February 2026 — ORPP held discussions with Siasa Place, alongside a delegation from the Alternative Party (Denmark), at the ORPP HQ offices. The deliberations focused on practical ways of strengthening Kenya’s interventions to enhance the participation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including youth, women and persons with disabilities, in political processes.
During the meeting, the visiting delegation highlighted the challenges faced by Special Interest Groups in achieving optimal participation in political and electoral processes.
Assistant Registrar CS Agatha Wahome assured the delegation of ORPP’s continued commitment to enforcing the law to guarantee the active participation of Special Interest Groups in political parties. She noted that the Office remained steadfast in enforcing legal provisions to ensure meaningful inclusion of Special Interest Groups within political party structures and processes.
Assistant Director in the Partnership and Resource Mobilization Department, Beatrice Nderi, stated that the Office would continue strengthening collaborative mechanisms aimed at supporting the inclusion of Special Interest Groups while responding to their emerging needs. She further outlined several measures undertaken to promote inclusion, including conducting quarterly compliance audits, implementing capacity-building programmes and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements by political parties.
The visiting representatives also emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, noting that a coordinated and holistic approach was essential in effectively advancing the inclusion of Special Interest Groups in political party governance.
