The ORPP, 12th and 13th, joined other stakeholders drawn from governance, electoral\/political management, enforcement, and administration of justice, for a multi-stakeholder workshop on \u201cProtecting Peace and Rights in Kenya\u2019s Digital Elections\u201d, convened by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission with support of International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA).<\/p>\n

The sitting aimed to strengthen multi-partner collaboration in securing Kenya\u2019s digital democratic space. It also sought to proactively support government agencies in planning and addressing potential hurdles related to misinformation, hate speech, threats from emerging technologies (AI), and other digital-space political messaging ahead of the 2027 polls.<\/p>\n

Among entries represented in the discussions were;
\nEthics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions,\u00a0 Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC), Media Council of Kenya, Communications Authority of Kenya, The National Gender and Equality Commission – Kenya, Independent Policing Oversight Authority – IPOA KENYA.<\/p>\n

The forum assessed the impact of online polarization and technology-fuelled conflicts on peace during elections, drawing on rich and diverse post-election findings and experiences from the various stakeholders involved in the electoral processes.<\/p>\n
