As part of supporting and entrenching prudent financial management including audit and reporting, the ORPP held a two-day sensitization of the 47-funded political parties on 20th<\/sup> and 21st<\/sup> October, 2024.<\/p>\n

Key reference training reference material was the recently ORPP-developed Political Parties Finance, Accounts and Procurement Manual. The training aimed at providing these parties with practical strategies for effective financial management.<\/p>\n

During the forum, Ann Nderitu, CBS, the Registrar of Political Parties, emphasized the importance of proper financial management for political parties. She highlighted that adherence to public auditing and reporting requirements set forth by the Office of the Auditor-General is a crucial accountability measure for the public funds allocated to parties through the Political Parties Fund (PPF).<\/p>\n

“We are enhancing the capacity of political parties on the comprehensive topics detailed in the Manual to improve their financial management practices and prevent violations of Public Finance and Procurement regulations. Any party that fails to comply will face legal repercussions,” the Registrar stated.<\/p>\n

The forum will also provide education on the reporting templates established by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB). Additional topics addressed include the framework governing the PPF, a review of past audit reports, challenges encountered, the timeline and submission process, as well as budget and expenditure management, and financial reporting and oversight.<\/p>\n
