On 9th, December 2025, Officials of the National Economic Development Party (NEDP) received their certificate of full registration, issued by the Registrar of Political Parties, J.C. Lorionokou, at the ORPP Kenya offices. NEDP becomes the 92nd fully registered political party in Kenya.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Registrar Lorionokou congratulated the officials on successfully attaining full registration, commending them for exercising their democratic right to establish a political party.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate you for exercising your democratic right to register a party and enabling citizens to have a political choice. We urge you to uphold democracy grounded in good governance and principles,\u201d he said. The Registrar further encouraged the officials to understand their mandate, prioritize institutionalization, and ensure the sustainability of the party by responding to the needs of its members.<\/p>\n
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining functional party offices and ensuring that key services reach members at the grassroots level to safeguard their political rights.<\/p>\n
Assistant Registrar Ali Abdullahi briefed the officials on compliance matters, urging them to familiarize themselves with the Political Parties Act.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing forward, your party will be guided by your constitution and the PPA,\u201d he noted, outlining the compliance requirements necessary for strengthening party structures. He affirmed that the ORPP will continue offering guidance through continuous capacity-building initiatives.<\/p>\n
Director of Compliance, D.N. Kinuthia, called on the officials to adhere to their party constitution and ensure democratic governance within the party. He highlighted key compliance parameters that must be upheld.<\/p>\n
Deputy Director, Registration Department, Locha Erukudi\u2014who coordinated the certificate issuance meeting walked the officials through the party registration process and commended them for completing it successfully.<\/p>\n
Party officials, led by former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, expressed appreciation to the ORPP for its support throughout the registration process.
