The ORPP organised and conducted a training to members of political parties’ Election Boards ahead of the by-elections scheduled for November 27, 2025 on September 22,2025 at Kenya School of Government, Kabete.<\/p>\n

The meeting, jointly organized by the Compliance\/Capacity Building and Legal & Advisory departments, aimed to build the capacity of Election Board members while updating them on ORPP\u2019s role and the roles and requirements of the Boards’ for their parties participation in the By-elections.
\nSome of the areas of discussion included the submission and publication of nomination particulars, nomination procedures, required documentation and parties dispute resolution mechanisms. Parties were reminded that all processes must adhere with the Political Parties Act Cap 7D and their respective constitutions and rules.<\/p>\n

Registrar of Political Parties, Sophia Sitati, noted ORPP’s continued support to political parties to actualize their roles, including participation in elections. She further called the participating parties to uphold peaceful, free, and fair by-elections while applying the political and elections Code of Conduct
\nAssistant Registrar, CPA Florence Birya termed the By-elections a “rehearsal for the 2027 general election” and urged Board members to act transparently and ensure duly established party Internal Dispute Resolution Committees (IDRCs) to handle disputes promptly, especially during the nomination phase.<\/p>\n

Assistant Registrar, Ali Abdullahi underscored the need for accountability and adherence to legal guidelines, guiding that parties must deploy established party structures in the running of their affairs. He emphasized on the need for parties’ Election Boards and IDRCs to work seamlessly while observing their distinct roles in managing issues as parties prepare for the By-Elections.<\/p>\n

Director for Compliance, Daniel Kinuthia, encouraged political parties to strictly adhere to all the legal and operation requirements, urging them to adopt emerging technologies to better serve their members and other constituents during the By-elections and in party operations.<\/p>\n

The ORPP issued key guidelines in relation to the by-elections and had embarked in capacity building party organs intending to participate in the by-elections.<\/p>\n
