In compliance with government directive to automate procurement and its continued efforts towards transparency and efficiency in all its procurement functions, Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has made steps towards transitioning to Electronic Government Procurement (eGP) system. This follows the directive by the National Treasury for all public procurement entities to retire their traditional manual procedures and fully onboard all processes into a centralized government system-eGP.<\/p>\n

The effective date for planning and fully implement the use of eGP was set on 1st<\/sup> July 2025, according to a circular to all public entities of 18th<\/sup> March , 2025 by Principal Secretary, The Treasury, Dr Chris Kiptoo and sanctioned by Cabinet in January, 2025. The entities are shift all public procurement and disposal processes to the end-to-end system.<\/p>\n

In a bid to implement the directive , six (6) officers- Joseph Kimulu, Mathew Sinteria, Esther Kiarie, Wahu Njoroge and Netty Ambuoro underwent a comprehensive training from 14th and 26th July 2025 at Kenya School of Government ,Matuga. The phased and clustered training was conducted by officials of the National Treasury. They were inducted on the in-roads of the system and transition process covering various stages of procurement and disposal including procurement planning, requisitions, system-based procurement, evaluation, inspection and acceptance, and contract management<\/p>\n

To roll out the use of eGP at ORPP, plans are underway to training sessions for Heads of Department and selected system users from various departments. The training is intended to build internal capacity to ensure complete on-boarding of all Office procurement \u00a0and disposal matters through the system. \u00a0The sensitization is also borne out of the system\u2019s different seeing to the adherence to procurement plans, budgets and other checks and balances in the course of procurement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call on all departments to embrace the system and collaborate with the procurement department for ORPP\u2019s compliance with the e-procurement directive,\u201d said Esther Kiarie, Head of Procurement.<\/p>\n

A series of the National Treasury circulars on adoption, training and use of the system have been issued between March and July 2025. \u00a0Such is one on the 23rd<\/sup> July, 2025 outlining guidelines on supplier registration, procuring entities registration, government-to-government procurement, management of budget on eGP , user management, integration of eGP to IFMIS, ERPs among others<\/p>\n

To automation to the Treasury\u2019s further guidance \u00a0is towards in compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPADA), CAP 412C, and its attendant regulations. It seeks to reduce multiple inefficiencies, delay in projects , loss public resources , streamlining procurement procedures\u00a0 and practices, enhance information management and facilitate effective procurement planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
