The ORPP with support of ELGIA convened a consultative meeting with representatives from Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) on 30th<\/sup> October, 2024 in Nairobi. The engagement sought to gather their insights on proposed amendments to the Political Parties Act of 2011(now cited as Political Parties Cap. 7D).<\/p>\n

The proposals put forth by the representatives focused on the nomination processes for party members and strategies to enhance the inclusion of marginalized groups, among other issues.<\/p>\n

Ann Nderitu, CBS, the Registrar of Political Parties, encouraged the religious leaders in attendance to provide honest feedback and to support the amendment initiatives, which are crucial for enhancing governance and electoral integrity.<\/p>\n

“As leaders of faith, you should lead the charge against tribalism and promote unity and peace as fundamental rights for all Kenyans,” stated the Registrar. Additional suggestions included strengthening the enforcement of sanctions within the Political Parties Code of Conduct to ensure discipline and to streamline the process for deregistering political parties that violate the law. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
