16 March 2026:\u00a0<\/strong> ORPP appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights (JLAC) to present its memorandum and deliberate on its submission of views on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2025.<\/p>\n

During the session, the Office supported the Bill given that it is tailored towards achieving the not more than two-thirds gender principle in Parliament and further achieve at least 5% of persons with disabilities in both the National Assembly and Senate.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a need to consider an inclusive approach in accommodating the various demographics under the marginalized categories to ensure unlimited inclusion,\u201d said Assistant Registrar C.S. Agatha Wahome as she led the ORPP delegation during the engagement.<\/p>\n

“The implementation of the proposed amendments will enhance inclusive electoral and political processes that speak to meaningful participation of margised groups,\u201d said Assistant Registrar CPA Florence Birya.<\/p>\n

JLAC Chairperson Senator Wakili Hillary K.Sigei emphasized the importance of tracking reform proposals and commended stakeholders for their input, urging continued engagement to realize the proposed amendments.<\/p>\n
